The MONITOR series represents a no-compromise solution for recording and broadcast studio monitoring.
The MONITOR series incorporates the latest advances in loudspeaker technology, thus achieving an unquestionable audio reference. The near-field MONITOR 6, with a 6.5" woofer, and the mid-tonear field MONITOR 8, with an 8" speaker, comprise the line of studio monitors from D.A.S.
The low frequency units boast features found only in "high-end" professional monitors. The oversized motor structure and the cast aluminium chassis join forces to achieve maximum efficiency and a fast impulse response, which boils down to solid and well defined bass. Carefully designed magnetic circuitry minimises build up of flux modulation, reducing distortion, maintaining the timbral signature of low level instruments and voices in complex musical programmes.
The high frequency units make use of ultrafine aluminium diaphragm tweeters, the voice coils of which are bathed in ferrofluid, an oil with magnetic particles that provides cooling and linearity to the transducers. The end result is reduced listening fatigue for extended mixing sessions. The high frequency domes controls directivity, offering higher sensitivity and hence, lower distortion. A wider more uniform stereo image, as well as a smoother transition from the woofer, boil down to greater transparency on vocals, which sound alive and natural. The acoustic enclosure is sturdily built out of 15 mm MDF. The crossover filter is an essential part of a studio monitor. Those used in the MONITOR series utilise the highest quality components, and provide a coherent summing of low and high frequency units, achieving the flat frequency response you expect from a studio monitor.
